Why Monitor ICT?
  • Awareness of standards of ICT
  • Know that the plans are in place
  • Know that the plans are being taught
  • Know the levels of ICT that the children in your
    school are achieving
  • Understanding of teaching ICT
  • Know the methods being used
  • Know the strengths in your school
  • Know the needs of your teachers
  • Part of responsibility
  • Requirement of your role
  • Will give you evidence for internal/external uses
    (prepared for Ofsted)

Where do I start?
  • Create an ICT Development Plan
  • Use the Greenwich ICT Team evaluation matrix
  • Review the current school situation,
  • Set a long term aim
  • the vision for where you would like the school to
    be in 3 or 4 years.
  • Work out the steps to get there
  • prioritise what can be done in the short term and
    set yearly TARGETS for each area of the matrix
  • Work out how to measure the success of each part
    of the development plan..
  • This then gives you the things you need to
    monitor

  • Follow the schools monitoring policy.
  • Check planning
  • Termly and weekly
  • ICT lessons identified and objectives for lesson
    recorded.
  • Cross curricular ICT links and opportunities also
    recorded

When do I monitor?
  • Look at time available
  • use any non-contact time to monitor
    teaching/learning
  • Request non-contact time to complete monitoring
    tasks if required
  • Be realistic
  • Set yourself achievable targets
  • Make it worth while!
  • Ensure that any monitoring has an outcome and
    informs action planning or school development for
    ICT
