STIMESI
  • Stimulation Action on MEMS and SiP

2
What is Stimesi ?
  • The STIMESI project belongs to the EUROPRACTICE
    family
  • STIMESI stands for STIMulation. It is a 4 years
Integrated Project, funded by the EEG under 6th
    Framework
  • Mission
  • The goal of the STIMESI Stimulation Action is
to stimulate European universities and research
institutes to adopt MEMS and SiP technologies in
    different ways

3
Scope
  • Target audience ?
  • Teachers, professors
  • Student
  • Researcher
  • Why ?
  • In the more than Moore era, there will be
an increased demand for graduates with experience
in more than one domain (discipline)

4
MEMS Design requirements
During the MEMS design process, one is confronted
with many more design and simulation tools than
is generally the case for IC design
  • process development
  • designkit-setup, DRC
  • modelling (top-down)
  • simulation, FEM/FEA
  • failure analysis design (botom-up)
  • drawing, layout, CAD
  • programming, scripting, interfacing
  • testing measurements
  • documenting
  • Multiple
  • specialist/engineers of each domain

The Stimesi offer
  • How ?

By organizing training
Free training courses
  • at different locations in Europe
  • reduce travel costs
  • reach members of host institute, host country and
    neigboring countries
  • open to a pan-European audience
  • free to participants from academicand research
    institutes fromthe European Unionand Norway,
    Iceland, Lichtenstein,Israel, Croatia,
    Switzerland and Turkey.
  • Courses (3 to 4 days duration)
  • ½ day MEMS introduction
  • 1 day on design, modelling, CAD tools, MPW s
  • ½ day introduction to specific MPW Technology
  • - SensoNor MultiMEMS Tronics MEMSOI
    processes
  • - MEMSCAP MUMPS (Multi-User MEMS) processes
  • - QinetiQ INTEGRAMplus Silicon MEMS
    Prototyping Services
  • - IMEC RF-SiP design and RF system
    integration
  • 1 or 2 days hands on session with CAD tools
    using technology designkit
