History
  • 1987 1 course and 3 students, no service
    programs and one teacher
  • 2003 APE License, average 33 students per year
    since 1998, 2 teachers, 3 on campus programs and
    3 public school settings
  • 1991 and 1997 Awarded two US Federal Grants for
    Undergraduate Preparation in APE
  • 1993 Development of APE Student Leadership
    Program

Purpose of APALP
  • For undergraduate and graduate students to gain
    professional experience in working with
    individuals with disabilities
  • To offer adapted physical activity programs to
    the BSU and Muncie communities
  • Decision to become recognized university
    organization
  • To make the organization available to more majors
  • To make APALP more recognizable on campus

Thursday Night Recreation
  • It is an open program, anybody may participate
  • Ball State students and faculty
  • Surrounding community members
  • Thursday Nights from 7-8 p.m.
  • Purpose is to provide the opportunity for people
    with and without disabilities to interact in a
    sport setting, with a focus on wheelchair sports

  • Walking Is Life Long
  • Purpose is to promote physical activity for
    individuals with severe and profound cognitive
    disabilities

  • Includes a warm-up, a half hour walk, and ends
    with a cool down
  • Laps and number of steps are recorded for each
    individual
  • Tuesdays Thursdays from 1000 to 1045am in the
    BSU Worthen arena concourse

  • Movement Opportunity Venues for Everyone
  • Purpose is to provide a motor and fitness program
    for students with and without disabilities
  • Age groups include 3-6 years, 7-10 years, 11-Up
  • Program emphasis Motor fitness, physical
    fitness, fundamental motor skills, group games
    sports

  • Public Schools- assist local schools with
