of the Congo, Tchad, Senegal, Togo, Burkina Faso,
Burundi, Gambia, Brazil, Guadeloupe, Haïti,
Martinique, Mexico, Nicaragua, Perou, Quebec,
Philippines, Nepal, Vietnam, Albania, Germany,
England, Belgium, France, Hollande, Italy, Spain,
Norway, Poland, Portugal, Grece, Sweden,
Romania,Switserland .

Set of problems
  • Persistence and reinforcement of poverty and
    social inclusion of the youngest populations in
    Europe
  • Increasing stigmatisation and rejection, enhanced
    by specificities such as the ethnic origin or a
    mental, physical handicap
  • The excluded populations are more and more left
    alone to face their difficulties
  • The consequences of this social exclusion are
    multiple and concern the whole society

  • Criminalize the younger populations excluded by
    different security policies.
  • This population is made to feel guilty by
    condemning programmes

  • Develop a proximity strategy of social,
    educational and preventive accompaniment such as
    street work
  • Develop adequate social insertion programmes,
    which give real social answers to social problems

  • To improve the quantity and quality of the
    profession of the street social work in Europe
    and social inclusion policies

  • The networking of street workers from 20
    different European countries
  • The exchange of good practices
  • The writting of a methodological guide on
    street social work in Europe
  • The organisation of a trainer training scheme
    on street social work in Belgium
  • The organisation of 2 training seminars on
    street social work in Norway and Portugal
  • The elaboration of a university training
    curriculum on street work
  • The organisation of a round tables in each
    country, in order to produce recommendations
    concerning youth inclusion and street social
    education policies

3 main issues
1. Obtaining better recognition of street
social work and better support for this
profession from national, regional and local
authorities
2. Improving or even changing
inclusion programs for vulnerable young
people (The aim is to consider the potentialities
and added value of young people instead of
proposing stigmatizing or coercive systems when
the situation does not impose it.)
3. Bridging the widening gap between
adults and youth through locally anchored
educational and social policies

Objectives
  • Putting in common the different benefits
    produced in the different countries exchange of
    good practices, of policies in terms of social
    insertions recognising the potentials of the
    youngsters
  • Invitation for a common reflection with the
    field actors, the political and administrative
    authorities
