The concept
  • Low risk fundraising in 2009
  • Climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and
    Wales
  • Teams climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon
    in 24 hours
  • Teams raise unrestricted sponsor money for your
    charity
  • You recruit teams based on minimum of 5,000
    sponsorship
  • Teams raise on average 5,500
  • You can enter one team or as many as you like
  • Capacity limit of 50 teams for the event
  • The cost for each team is 2,000 VAT
  • Payable only if your team takes part

The event
  • Teams are composed of four or five walkers plus a
    driver
  • Teams arrive at Fort William, on Saturday 5th
    September
  • Teams begin climbing Ben Nevis at 3pm
  • Teams then drive to Scafell Pike and Snowdon
  • Teams complete Snowdon 24 hours after they
    started
  • Teams attend a celebratory reception upon
    completion
  • Teams provide their own transport and
    accommodation
  • ukMc can provide teams with advice on this
  • Challenge involves over 3000m (over 10,000 feet)
    of ascent
  • Event is organised and run in accordance with IoF
    code of practice

Fundraising
  • This is the whole point!
  • Teams should raise a minimum of 5,000 in
    sponsorship
  • excluding gift aid
  • Our experience suggests they will raise an
    average of 5,500
  • Sponsor money is sent directly to your charity
  • ukMc can provide advice on raising more money

What you get
  • An opportunity to raise unrestricted income with
    little risk

  • Briefings for your fundraising teams and staff
  • Safety
  • full risk assessment, marshalls and a radio
    network will be in place to cover the whole event

  • compliance above and beyond the Institute of
    Fundraisings code of practice
  • Marketing advice, should you need it
  • Reception costs included

  • Is a qualified and experienced Mountain Leader
  • Is ex-Director of Fundraising at Richard House
    Hospice
  • Has been events manager for CAD, CARE and NDCS
  • Has organised over fifty outdoor challenge
    events, including the Three Peaks, since 1998
  • Events Alex has organised have raised over 5m in
    unrestricted funds for UK charities

Finances
  • A deposit of 500 VAT is payable upon booking a
    team
  • This deposit is non-refundable, but can be
    transferred to another team if your team cancels.
    In this instance, you can transfer to another
    team for the same year, a different year, or
    different event
  • Final balancing payment of 1,500 VAT is
    payable six weeks before the event
  • By this time your team should have raised most of
    their sponsor money
  • You are responsible for your own marketing costs
  • But we will provide advice and support free
  • If you book three teams or more, costs for your
    staff to attend the end of event reception are
    included
  • Teams are responsible for their own travel and
    accommodation costs
