common to all staff members then ethics, indeed,
is built on a common sense of right, fair and
good.

with Values
  • Principles that define behavior as right, good
    and proper.

    because you are the teacher

  • Not doing what you want to do
  • Not behaving differently when you close the door
    to the classroom

7
Professional Code of Ethics and District
Expectations
  • Review the Texas Professional Code of Ethics
  • Review the contents of the District Employee
Handbook as it relates to professional and
    employee behavior and expectations

8
Core Expectations
  • The District is committed to an environment of
diversity and inclusion for all students,
    teachers, and staff.
  • The District embraces the fundamental belief that
each individual is important, and the
contribution of every group has value and worth.
  • Our standards of ethical conduct, equality and
acceptance are evidenced in all communications,
social interactions and decision making policies
    and procedures.

9
Excessive Absenteeism
  • Any employee who is absent more than five days
because of a personal or family illness must
submit a medical certification from a qualified
health care provider confirming the specific
dates of the illness, the reason for the illness,
and in the case of personal illness, the
employees fitness to return to work.
    Additionally, supervisors may require medical
certification anytime after five days of
continuous absence during the school year.
  • Excessive absenteeism may be cause for
disciplinary action up to and including
    termination.

10
  • An expectation for all Crowley ISD employees,
staff members, and students is an acceptance and
    appreciation for individual differences. This
includes, but is not limited to ethnicity,
    socioeconomic status, religion, and learning
abilities. Tolerance is a beginning but not the
goal of the district. Any member of the CISD who
does not demonstrate this behavior is subject to
    disciplinary action.

11
Teacher Behaviors that Demonstrate Tolerance are
Below Expectations
  • Crowley ISD expects that teacher behaviors and
    conduct will exemplify

13
Elements of Expectations
  • Mutual respect
  • Fairness
  • Dignity for all
  • Awareness that we are different and unique
  • Being fair does not mean being equal

14
Outcome of Application of Expectations

professional behavior we will work together to
    create a climate that is
  • Respectful
  • Empathetic
  • Supportive
  • Professional
  • Earnest
  • Considerate
  • Tactful

Value Your Role as an Educator!
  • Grant individuals respect and dignity
  • Honor and strive to understand diversity in all
    its forms
  • Recognize, through patience and understanding,
that every person is constantly growing and
    learning

16

    and healthy.
  • Challenge yourself to continue in your physical,

is in physical danger that could result in self
    harm or harm to others.

Moral Imperative
  • The moral imperative we ought to do the right
thing for no better reason that it is the right
    thing to do.
  • CISD sets high ethical standards.

20
Legal Imperative
  • The legal imperative we ought to do the right
thing because there are penalties for doing the
    wrong thing.
  • High ethical standards reduce the likelihood of
    ethical misconduct.

Pragmatic Imperative
  • The pragmatic imperative we ought to do the
right thing because it is very often true that
