Why use Netsoc for hosting

• Greater control
• TCDlife doesnt offer shell access
• More cool stuff
• You can install your own CMS or any other cool
  web stuff
• Assistance
• Netsoc members are more than willing to lend a
  hand if something goes wrong or if you need help

Society hosting _at_ Netsoc

• A society is given a vhost of its choosing -
  ie dupa.netsoc.tcd.ie for the DU Photography
  society
• Files for vhosts are kept in /var/www/non_chowned/
  ltyourvhostnamegt on Matrix (matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie)
• MySQL accounts are available on request

Content Management Systems

• While not offered by default, Netsoc fully
  supports the use of CMSes
• CMSes take a wide variety of forms, ranging from
  post-based systems like Joomla to Gallerys
  powerful photo-organisation abilities to wiki
  systems such as MediaWiki (the software used by
  Wikipedia).
