3College Procedures Skills Assessment
- To enroll in many classes at LCC, you must have
a certain skill level in Reading, Writing, or
Math. - For ESL classes, you will take the Levels of
English Proficiency Test (LOEP).
- You may get a READ, WRIT or MATH skill level in 2
ways - Take a test in the Assessment Center, room 2100
GVT Center - Take a class and meet the exit competency to
increase your skill level.

- After taking a skills test in the Assessment
Center, you should meet with an advisor to help
you decide on the classes you need to take. - Advising and Counseling is located in room 2300

5College Procedures Orientation to the College
- Students who attend orientation get off to a
better start and are more likely to succeed in
college. - Call 517-483-5323 to attend a START Orientation.
- Ask about an Orientation in the GVT Building,

6College Procedures Financial Aid, page 1
- Students who want to be considered for financial
aid must complete an application form (FAFSA)
once each academic year. Talk to your ESL Advisor
or Counselor for help in filling out the
Financial Aid forms. - In order to keep financial aid, a student must
maintain at least a 2.0 overall grade point
average (GPA) each semester. You must also
complete 70 of all credits attempted. If a
student does not meet these requirements, the

- To find a job on campus, see job postings at
Career and Employment Services, GVT Center, room
2300. - The Womens Resource Center also can help
students with Child Care Awards, Single Parent
Scholarships, and other awards and services. Go
to room 2300 GVT Center.
8College Procedures Registering for Classes
- Before you register for classes, you must apply
to LCC and take a skills assessment test in the
Assessment Center. For ESL classes, you will take
the Levels of English Proficiency Test (LOEP). - See an advisor for help in choosing the right
classes for you!
- You can register with your advisor, register
online, or register by phone. - See your Course Schedule Book for details, or go

9College ProceduresDropping Classes
- Talk to your advisor and teachers before making a
change to your schedule. - Dropping a class may have financial consequences.
That is, you may owe money back to the college
if you drop improperly. - If you register for a class, but then cannot
attend the class, it is your responsibility to
drop the class. See your teacher or advisor if
this happens. - Teachers can drop student for not attending
classes, but you may not get a refund of your
money, or you may end up with a W on your record.

Phone Number
- Go to Enrollment Services to fill out a change of
address or telephone form, or - Go to Star Port and make the change yourself.
