  • Elective module choices for JH students
  • You should have looked through the electives
    handbook sent over the summer, and have a
    shortlist of elective modules you are interested
    in
  • Attend module fair for academic advice on the
    modules you are interested in
  • To enrol either online via Student Services
    (you may have done this already) system open
    until 26 September or by a Change of Module
    Form available from Geography Reception, the
    Centre for Joint Honours, or your other subject
    department
  • Choose 40 credits of Level 1 electives check
    for timetable clashes. Try to balance timetable
    by choosing 20 credits per semester
  • No restrictions, unless the modules have
    pre-requisites. Language modules are exceptions.
  • Popular elective modules may be fully booked.
  • Try something new!
  • Beware module exclusion policy that some
    departments have.
  • Ask for help if you are confused!

  • Try to avoid clashes between modules this may
    be difficult!
  • Prioritise core modules and modules which are
    pass to progress
  • If you enrol for GEOG1240, you should fill in a
    personal timetable and hand it in to Geography
    Reception by the end of this week for your new
    Geography tutor, who will then find a suitable
    hour when your group can meet
  • Attendance
  • Attendance expected at all sessions.
  • Attendance monitored in Geography through
  • tutorials and various lectures
  • non-attendance followed up.

  • Full workload is 120 credits
  • Level 1 is pass to progress - you must pass100
    credits including any pass to progress modules
    in your other subject, but level 1 does not
    contribute directly to your degree classification
  • Pass mark is 40
  • Allowed 2 resits first resit opportunity is
    August
  • If you experience problems (illness, personal
    problems, technical problems), inform Joint
    Honours

  • Requesting extensions for assessed coursework
  • See Tessa Grant as early as possible. Must have
    legitimate reason for requesting extension
    (mitigating circumstances medical problems,
    personal issues, theft, etc.). Provide evidence
    where possible.
  • Information disclosed remains confidential, but
    will be shared in brief with Joint Honours.
  • If medical reasons, provide medical note.
  • If theft, crime reference number required.
  • Work submitted late without authorised extension
    is penalised by 5 per calendar day of lateness.
  • If in doubt, ask anyway.
