Death by PowerPoint doesnt have to happen.
PowerPoint can be used for more things than just
orals. It can be used to create an interactive
display to record a virtual excursion to a planet
or create a virtual zoo. You can also use it to
create games. The following slides show how to
hyperlink parts of a picture to other slides. The
slides just show the start of an interactive
virtual/real geology excursion. The last 2
slides contain others ideas on how to use
PowerPoint and a list of websites.

8Other Ideas
- Students can create a virtual zoo where the zoo
map hyperlinks to various parts of the zoo. The
different sections of the zoo may represent a
different kingdom. - In drama presentations or role-plays students use
PowerPoint to create backgrounds. These
backgrounds are then shown using a light pro.
Some students may even create interactive
backgrounds. - Students can create a childrens story book about
a science concept and present it using
PowerPoint. - The following website Parade of games has
templates of games using PowerPoint e.g.
jeopardy, who wants to be a millionaire, etc. - http//facstaff.uww.edu/jonesd/games/index.html
