2- In Central Computer Lab Room 210 we use a
flatbed CanoScan scanner

3- This is the inside of a flatbed scanner
- The glass surface is called the platen
4- Scanning Instructions
- Lift lid and place image to be scanned face down
on glass platen - position top of image to the arrow on the left
side of glass platen (image will not be upside
down when scanned)

5- 2. Open PhotoStudio 5 from the desktop
6- 3. Click File,
- Click Acquire
7- 4. ScanGear CS
- will open
- Click Type of Original
- Photo
- Magazine
- Newspaper
- Document
- Choose and Click which type of original
8 9- 6. After image is previewed you can change the
selection box around the image to - Include the entire platen
10- 7. After image is previewed you can change the
selection box around the image to - Include the entire platen
- Or only include a specific part of the image
- (Dotted Line will be Black)
11- 8. Click Scan when the image you want to save is
selected
12- 9. If scanning additional images, continue in
ScanGear if scanning is completed -
- Close ScanGear
13- 10. If image is to be saved
- Click File, Save As
- choose save location
- - type save name
- - change Save as type to Jpeg Files
- (Jpeg Files will work in Microsoft Word)
14- 11. If printing
- Click File, Print
- Then Printer Setup
- to choose CS Color
- Printer

- Size of Photo can
- be changed with the
- Slider Button in
- Printer Setup
- Click Print

- It is possible to scan from other programs, such
as PhotoShop - It is also possible to scan through Microsoft
Document Scanning and Document Imaging
16- You can also scan from Microsoft Word.
- This is How You Could Start the Scan
1. Click on Insert, Picture, Then Click From
Scanner or Camera
17Scanning from Microsoft Word
2. Choose Print Quality You probably dont want
to add the picture to the Clip Organizer. It
would be available to use later. Click Insert.

- 3. You can watch the progress of the scan.
- The picture will be placed in the Word document.

- 4. Picture will be placed in your document and
you will be ready to add text
20You Now Know How to Scan an Image Using Adobe
PhotoStudio and Microsoft Word
- Choose Microsoft Word if you dont want to save
the picture for later use, because if will be
part of the document. - Choose Adobe PhotoStudio if you need the picture
for other uses.
