9Media Literary Awareness
- Led by the CA year 3 class, the students visited
two schools to create awareness about media
literacy. The first school visited was Tusbab
Secondary, just up the road from DWU, while the
second was the Jomba Primary School. - Split into six groups the students discussed
issues such as violence, women, reality,
advertising, tourism and culture. After the group
discussion, the children themselves gave a lively
presentation on what they had learnt from the
discussions.

15Unfortunately our cameras couldnt come to Jomba
so no picture story to tell the story. However,
everyone was impressed with the feedback they got
from grade eight students there. They interpreted
what they had talked about in their groups and
completely blow away the CA students who were
smiling with an air of achievement for Media
Freedom Day 2006
