    Treaties of Rome. It provided for greater
    involvement of the European Parliament in the
    decision-making process, and the introduction of
    qualified majority voting in the Council of the
    European Union for some policy areas. In
    addition, it included provisions concerning
    collaboration in research and development and in
    environmental policy

  • The principle of non-discrimination
  • the EC Treaty, which prohibits "any
    discrimination on grounds of nationality" is one
    of the fundamental principles of the internal
    market. Discrimination is understood as meaning
    different treatment, on the basis of nationality,
    under the same circumstances. Under this
    provision, it is prohibited to treat imported
    goods differently to domestic goods
