4Lessons from the Classroom
- Use Social Studies related Internet Projects to
help students better appreciate cultural
differences. - The Internet allows students to access the
original documents mentioned and discussed in
their textbooks. - Student-to-Student activities to allow students
to teach each other, and also prepare them to
successfully operate in the information world. - Plan opportunities for students to share with
each other. For example, have time for students
to share what they have discovered and seek help
if needed. - Because there are so many internet resources for
Social Studies classes, sort and find some of the
best to get students started.

14Using Individual Bookmark and Favorites Folders
- You may face problems when an entire class does
Internet Inquiry with many individuals setting
bookmarks or favorites. - One way to solve this problem is to have personal
folders in the Bookmarks or Favorites windows of
your browser for each student. When the students
find sites they want to bookmark, they can save
them to their own personal folders instead of
adding them to a long list of everyones
favorites. - Note Make sure to inform students of where and
how to save pages to their own folders. You may
want to cover this in an Internet Workshop
session.
