What is the PAWS Rescue Progam?

• Animal from shelter needs to be rescued
• Animal is accepted into breed rescue group
• We pull pet from shelter and place into a foster
  home
• Foster home cares for pet temporarily
• Pet is transported to rescue group

Why do we do rescue?

• 9,000 dogs cats are put to sleep in Ouachita
  parish each year
• Many more are abused or die on the streets
• We have been able to rescue over 120 dogs/cats
  since we began this program

This program can not exist without volunteers!

Can you open your home and heart to a rescued
pet?Foster homes are ALWAYS needed

Abby was surrendered to the shelter with very
little fur due to a flea allergy. She was going
to be put to sleep. A volunteer stepped up and
offered to foster her.
Abby got the chance to live thanks to a
volunteer!

Baby Girls only fault was that she was a large
black dog in an animal shelter. Large black dogs
are rarely adopted from shelters.
The only reason she is alive today is because of
a volunteer who was willing to foster her. She
now has a wonderful home in MA.

Can you spare a couple of hours and a few gallons
of gas to help a shelter pet get to a rescue?

Poet and Shari were accepted by breed rescues in
TX and south LA but just needed to get there.
Thanks to generous volunteers who gave them a
ride, their lives were spared!
