FTL is coming to TD

• Fermilab Time and Labor
• Replaces leave sheets and effort reports
• Initially only exempt (monthly) employees
• TD starts Monday, 30 March 2009
• Todays discussion is about preparations
• It is NOT about the design or wisdom of the system

BUT, the basic concept is that

• Every week every employee enters leave usage /
  effort report data into the online system between
  noon Friday and noon Monday
• Every week every supervisor approves all entries
  by noon Monday
• Appropriate data flows automatically to Payroll
  and Project Accounting
• Everyone lives happily ever after
• Note Without LaDaunes tireless fighting over
  the last five years it would be much worse, but
  ultimately the implementers have the final word

Three classes of users

• Employees and approvers
• All exempt employees
• Non-exempt will come later
• Timekeepers
• All admins who currently use TDCHARGE
• TD FTL Czar
• Marie Herman
• Back-up LaDaune Trierweiler

Employee training

• Town Hall Meetings
• Mid-February
• In Hermitage
• Three chances
• Optional
• On-line tutorial and test
• Available several weeks after meetings
• Easy test but must score 100
• Individual training by timekeepers
• Mandatory for anyone who cant pass on-line test
• Continuing guidance

Timekeepers

• Will attend timekeeper training and
  train-the-trainers sessions in January
• Will spend several hours each week in February at
  Wilson Hall entering January leave data to
  exercise the payroll end of the system
• Will assist with town hall meetings
• Will advise employees from then on and instruct
  new employees
• Will learn to use Discoverer to produce
  TDCHARGE-like reports for bosses
• Will get assistance from TD FTL Czar and
  timekeeper mentors from the sections

TD FTL Czar

• Will get timekeeper and train-the-trainer
  training
• Will present the system at town hall meetings
• Will perform employee maintenance updates
  (transfers, etc.)
• Will act as a resource for timekeepers
• Will act as TDs point of contact for FTL issues

  and February
• It will continue to absorb resources in the
  future
• We will learn to deal with it
