Estimates for 2002 indicate that the US increased
its population by 2.5. Georgia had the 5th
highest percentage growth rate with 4.6.

Metropolitan Statistical Areasof theSoutheast
The number of Georgias Metropolitan Statistical
Areas increased from 7 to 15 in 2003 while the
number of counties within these areas rose from
42 to 70. With the exception of a few counties,
there will be a solid metropolitan area
stretching from Alabama to North Carolina.
