Before talking about MLK - do this activity
(Switch hair color to your preference) -At the
beginning of class pass out candy to only the
brunettes. -When they start realizing that youve
only given candy to the brunettes, tell them its
because youre brunette and you like them better.
-They WILL be mad. As they complain start
writing down comments they have on the SMART
Board. Ex. thats not fair Im not gonna
work you cant do that Im mad! -When
youve heard enough, write discrimination on the
board, give the blondes a piece of candy
explaining that you do like them, it was just a
way of introducing the word discrimination.
-Have students discuss how they felt, both the
blondes and brunettes. -Create a common
definition for the word discrimination. -Watch
