What is UIL? University Interscholastic League

• Created by the University of Texas in Austin to
  provide leadership and guidance to public school
  teachers.
• Students from different high schools, some from
  within district and some from outside of our
  district, compete in UIL Academic Events.
• Invitational Meets on Saturdays
• Twice a Month starting October
• District Meet in Spring (Last weekend in March)
• Regional Meet (second Saturday in April)

UIL Objectives

• To enhance students educational experience
• To prepare them for citizenship by providing
  inter-school competition
• To establish rules and procedures for sanctioning
  and conducting interscholastic competition
  against other schools

Student Requirements

• Must follow No Pass-No Play Guidelines
• Must attend practice sessions as scheduled by
  his/her coach.
• Full-Time students (at least 4 hours per day in
  school)
• Students my participate in several UIL academic
  events, as long as they dont conflict with one
  another.

Teacher Requirements

• Complete the Professional Acknowledgment Form
• Keep a log/sign-in sheet of students practice
  times
• Practice at least twice a week
• Attend monthly planning meeting
• 2nd Tuesday of month starting September

Stipends

• 800 per events sponsored
• May sponsor up to three events
• 100 per invitational attended.
• Maximum eight invitational meets paid
• Attend at least six invitational meets and
  District Meet.
• Must reach at least a total of 12 points
  before District
• 1 point per student per event for each meet
  attended.
• Must attend meet to get the points and travel on
  bus with your students.
