Title: Cordy Pearson Recalls Strange Customers
1Cordy Pearson Recalls Strange Customers
- Cordy Pearson is a sales associate in the
electronics section of a department store. He
has many stories about the kind of customers that
wonder into his area on a daily basis, and these
make for good bonfire and over a drink tales.
Over the many years that he has been working
there, he has dealt with many different types of
people. The most memorable, and also the most
bizarre instance is one in which he had a
customer asking for a VHS. The conversation
proceeded as follows.
2Customer Do you sell any VHS? Cordy No,
maam. We sell DVD players, though. Customer
Whats DVD? (Cordy tries proceeds to explain
DVDs, still remaining very professional.) Customer
But you dont have any VHS?! I find that hard
to believe! Couldnt you check the back room in
case you have one lying around? Cordy Maam,
we havent sold VHS in years. Customer So you
cant check? Cordy We dont carry any VHS
products anymore. Customer UNBELIEVABLE! How
do you not carry VHS?! Youre gonna lose
customers like that.
3- Customer What about JVCs? Do you have portable
cassette JVCs? - Cordy We dont have any cassette products
anymore either. - (The customer is genuinely bewildered at this
point. She eventually decides to purchase a dvd
player.) - Cordy And how will you be paying today?
- (The customer hands over a credit card.)
- Cordy Maam, this card is expired. In fact the
card expired in the early 2000s. - Customer WHAT?! No wonder you guys are going
out of business. Cant even take my payment!
4Anytime Cordy Pearson tells that instance to
anyone, or even recalls it in his own mind , he
cant help but laugh at the strange type of
people that live and exist in this world. Even
more, he think to himself about how these people
end up in his store, and he has to attend to
them. He got to see a lot of such people in his
earlier years when he was just a starting out.
Since becoming a manager, his customer
interaction has reduced significantly, but once
in a while that random customer still pops up.
