My Experience with an Automated Translation

• I always find myself in a bind when I need to get
  something translated quickly. A friend of mine
  told me that I can find an easy way out by
  getting my work translated by an automated
  service.
• Now I have used the translation service on a few
  websites before. Usually it is to learn a cool
  word or something in another language, but I have
  never done it specifically for a huge document.

My Options

• There are tons of automated translation services
  available online. Just doing a simple search, you
  can find several websites specifically dedicated
  to doing document translations. Unfortunately
  though, a lot of these websites only do a small
  amount of translations. They only translate a
  passage or two and that may be okay when you are
  trying to do your foreign language homework, but
  for a full document I simply didnt have the time.

• Finding a website that does automated translation
  for a huge paper like the one I had took a bit of
  time and energy. Luckily I found a few, and they
  worked, but it wasnt at the quality that I
  wanted it to be. I didnt realize that until I
  submitted my paper though. By that time it was
  already too late. I never knew how these services
  worked and the way that they translated work, but
  when I found out I suddenly understood why my
  work would never be properly translated by a free
  automated service.

How It All Works

• The way it all works is pretty simple. You put
  your work into a translator and it finds the
  corresponding words or phrase and translates it
  into another language, and in theory that works
  perfectly. You can translate things all you want,
  and it even looks like it is right in the new
  language. After I used the service I was sure
  that the paper made sense. The words looked so
  similar. I even asked my friends how it looked
  and all of them said the same thing, but
  unfortunately none of them actually knew the
  language it was written in.

• I couldnt find someone who actually could read
  or speak the language, if I could then I wouldnt
  be using the service, but when I got my document
  back I realized that it was horribly wrong.
  Automated translators do a lot of work in terms
  of translating words in various languages, but
  the translation stops there. There are a lot of
  subtle things that are ignored with these
  services.
