2Chapter 1 2 basic needs to KNOW God and to be
RIGHT with God.
Chapter 2 Following Jesus requires COMMITMENT
Chapter 3 The initial STEP You must be born
again.
Chapter 4 Developing a personal relationship
3Jesus left Judea to go to Galilee and He
needed to go through Samaria
Vs. 3,4
4and it was about the sixth hour.
Vs. 6
The 6th hour 12 noon
Jesus was wearied
Sat down while disciples went to McDonalds (vs.
8)
Does Jesus understand when you are tired?
5There came a womanto draw water
VS. 7
Why did the woman come the 6th hour
And not the 1st hour with the other women?
Apparently there wassomething she was trying to
Avoid
6Do you sometimes avoid people because of
something you dont want to deal with?
Does it resolve anything?
In most cases it only intensities the problem as
each perceives what the other is thinking.
7Jesus asked her Give me a drink
Vs. 7
vs. 9
The woman was shocked
Prejudice keeps us from ministering to people.
8Vs. 10 Jesus answered
If you knew the gift of God...you would be asking
Him and He would give you living water.
Who/What is the gift of God?
Jesus, He is the thirst Quencher.
Jesus is offering the woman Himself.
9What do you thirst for?
10JESUS can satisfy your thirst
11 The woman said to Him, Sir you have nothing to
draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do
you get that living water? Vs. 11
12The woman thought Jesus was referring to
Physical Water
But He was referring to a Relationship with
Himself receiving Him.
13Vs. 13 Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst
again but whoever drinks of the water that I
shall give him shall never thirst
How does Jesus satisfy the thirst so that we
never thirst again?
14We are a 3 part being body, soul, and spirit
JESUS
When we operate as a 2 part being it leaves a
vacuum and creates a thirstSomething is Missing
The spirit is missing God with whom it is
designed to operate.
15What is the thirst?
Ultimately for God
16The woman said give me this water that I
thirst not neither come here to draw.
Vs.15
She is still thinking of Physical water.
17Shes thinking of the issue she is trying to
Avoid. She doesnt want to come to the well.
Why is she so concerned about not coming to the
well anymore to draw from it?
18Jesus said to hergo call your husband
Vs.16
Why did Jesus ask that?
That is the ISSUE .
Its at the heart of this  womans THIRST.
19 The woman said
I have no husband.
Vs.17
Jesus said True
Vs.18
You have had 5 husbands and the man you are
currently living with is not your husband
20What was the thirst in this womans life?
She was looking for a Relationship that
satisfied. One based on genuine Love
21Jesus got very close to the pain she was trying
to avoid.
If prejudice didnt cause Jesus to reject Her,
certainly Her sin would.
22I perceive youre a prophetwe worship in this
mountainyou worship in Jerusalem
Vs.19,20
Why did the woman bring up the subject of
religion? _________
Diversion
You believe differently than I do.
For sure Jesus would reject her for her religion.
23True worshippers worship the Father in spirit
and in truth
Vs. 21-24
What is worship to the Father based on?What
makes it true worship?
A relationship with the Father through Jesus the
son
24True worship is not about mountains or buildings
or ritual
It requires a balance ofSPIRIT and TRUTH
25Worship that is all spirit is
26Worship that is all truth is
27 True worship balances both
As we take in truth andapply it we become Free
Freedom causes our
spirit to Soar
and to be Grateful
The result is Worship
28I know Messiah is coming, the ChristHe will
tell us all things.

Why did the woman bring up Messiah and Christ?
29Could this be the Messiah?
Gods Spirit communicated with her spiritThis
is Truth. There is only 1 true God. Messiah
is the anointed  one of GodGod the Son.
30I that speak unto you am he.
Vs.26
God, in the person of Jesus, was offering Himself
to her.
Being Samaritan, living in sin, involved in a
different religion did not matter.
31The woman leftwent into the citysaid to the
menCome see a man which told me all things
that ever I did is not this the Christ?
Vs.28-30
Gone was the desire to Avoid the issue.
32 The woman was changed. What brought it
about?
Jesus
He had forgiven her, accepted her, and
communicated that he valued her.
She found in him a relationship that satisfied.
33Many of the Samaritans of the city believedand
many more believed
Vs.39-42
The woman, who was afraid to draw water with the
women of the city, was so changed, she was
instrumental in bringing the whole city to faith
in Christ.
34What brings about a change in us?
A relationship with Jesus
Have you experienced it?
35IF YOU KNEW THE GIFT OF GOD YOU WOULD ASK
- No one is too sinful to be saved.
- No one is so lost that Jesus cannot save him
- No one can be saved without facing their sin
- No one who faces their sinful past will be
turned away by Jesus.
- No one who meets Jesus and enters into a
relationship with Him will be the same again.

Like the woman at the well have you tried

Religion
Experiences
Knowledge
and come up empty?
37 TRY JESUS
38How can you enhance your relationship with Jesus?
1. Repent and turn from any known sin.
2. Spend time in the BibleBegin by asking a
question of Jesus?Then look in the Word for the
answer.
39 3. Talk to God in prayerTell Him your
concernsLet Him know what you are feelingAsk
requests of HimThank Him for His love and
concern for you
4. Get involved in some kind of
outreach/ministry/service that helps
anotherShare your story with them.
