Recovering After Breast Augmentation What to You
Need to Know Before Your Procedure
2
Like any surgery, breast augmentation is
something that needs to be carefully planned and
prepared for. Note all these tips which are
mentioned below
  • Keep Your Blood Pressure Down
  • You Will Need to Quit Smoking
  • You Can and Should Touch Your Implants
  • You Need to Pick Your Surgeon Carefully
  • You May Have to Abandon Your Plan

3
Keep Your Blood Pressure Down
  • Strong emotions can raise your blood pressure.
  • This means everything from stress to physical
exertion to being overly happy is off-limits,
for at least two weeks after surgery.
  • Keep as calm as possible from day to day, as
increased blood pressure increases the likelihood
    of bleeding issues.

4
You Will Need to Quit Smoking
  • You should quit smoking at least two weeks
    before and after your surgery.
  • Smoking slows the healing process, can interfere
with anesthetics, and increases risk of capsular
contracture, a condition where the implants
    harden and look abnormal.

5
You Can and Should Touch Your Implants
  • Perform the massage exercises every two hours
for two to four weeks following breast
    augmentation.
  • Carefully moving the implants around will work
to keep scar tissue surrounding the implant as
    flexible as possible.

6
Pick Your Surgeon Carefully
  • Be sure your doctor is board certified.
  • Make sure your surgeon is upfront with you as
    well.
  • Surgeon should let you know of all the risks and
expound on the precautions you can take to lessen
    those risks.

7
You May Have to Abandon Your Plan
  • You can have a plan in mind, but your skin may
not be willing to conform to it.
  • It may be your skin is too elastic to only go up
one cup size, or it may be your desired cup size
is too large to obtain without permanently
    damaging your skin.
  • A good surgeon will take all of this into
    account when sizing your implants.
