Whether mobile home or caravan you are likely to
need a quiet and reliable generator and the IG770

For the technically concerned this is partly to
do with an in-built sound wave inverter that
filters the noise from the alternator. The effect
is to reduce sound wave distortion as well as
voltage fluctuations. With no spikes in power it
makes this generator particularly good for more
sensitive electrical equipment such as computers
and Wi-Fi routers. Writing this from my remote
Turkish holiday home reminds me of the reason I
keep one of these generators. The electricity
supply along with basic house wiring here leads a

The power can be gone a few hours and even a
whole day. Although our generator is not yet
linked for automatic power cut charge-up, it
still fires up like clockwork with little time
wasted on any priming. Whilst the generator is
running the house lights and desktop computer we
have to remember to quickly unplug every other
appliance. When the mains fires back on there is
invariably a huge surge that in the past would
catch us out. Light bulbs would pop regularly and
routers and televisions could be fatally
wounded. With a single cylinder 4 stroke engine
the one and a half litre tank filled with
unleaded petrol will run continuously for at
least three hours. There is a cut-out feature
with the oil so that the first thing you should
do if it stops working whilst there is still fuel
in the tank is to check the oil low warning light.

Similarly, if you try to start the generator and
it does not want to seem to start the first thing
to check is the oil. When you pull the starter
toggle and it does not fire the oil lamp may show
red. This is the first check for any generator
fault finding and as oil or rather the lack of
it, is such a cause of sometimes catastrophic
proportions and this should always be a top
consideration. Whether used for leisure purposes
such as boating, camping or caravanning this
all-round generator is also perfect for field
work such as hedge cutting and use of other
agricultural electrical tools where the mains
