Where Two Radiators Are Better Than One
Its easy to argue that the room most in need of
central heating on cold winter days is the
bathroom. After all, this is the room where you
get naked to step into the shower or bath. In
keeping with a modern bathroom that should be
totally waterproof and devoid of even the
smallest of gaps that may allow steam to enter,
the radiator should be sleek and simple.

Need to be aware of a few things
This is not the best room to have one of those
column radiators or the twin skinned ones that
have fins in between the front and back panels.
These are harder to clean than one of the single
skin bathroom radiators as shown on The Shower
and Mirror Warehouse website. Ideally there
should be one large radiator that is connected to
the homes central heating circuit and a separate
small towel radiator. Its a mistake to hang
towels over the larger radiator as this blocks
the heat and can confuse the thermostat. The
other main advantage to a separate towel radiator
is that because it is electric it can be switched
on when the rest of the system is off.

Just when we think summer is here in the UK we
are often caught out with a sudden drop in
temperature. The central heating system may have
been turned off for the summer but at least with
a heated towel radiator the towels are warm and
dry and additionally it just puts enough warm air
into the bathroom to make a difference.

Electric towel radiators use little electricity
and kept on for just a few hours a day will help
reduce any damp air that in the long run can
cause damage to the décor and fittings. The
changing elements of water, steam with hot and
cold water means it is certain that anything
susceptible to rust will do just that. Even a
nail in the wall will rust over time so radiators
are best finished in chrome or stainless steel.
There are some radiators made of aluminium and
these are resistant to rust as well as having the
advantage of heating up faster than any other
metal radiator. All radiator design has come a
long way in recent years and some are so good
looking that they can play an important part in
the desired décor when redecorating a home.

A shiny chrome tubular bathroom radiator or
mirror finish panel one can look perfect for a
contemporary modern bathroom. The design of a new
bathroom is a rewarding experience if you have
just moved house and the existing bathroom looks
a bit tired. In this case a complete
refurbishment is the only way to go and as long
as you have some DIY skills including being able
to handle plumbing issues then nothing should
stop you. Chisel off all the old tiles, rip up
the old floor lino and begin by waterproofing all
the bare walls, floor and ceiling with a rubber
membrane before beginning any decorating to
achieve a lasting good looking bathroom.
