Legal Advice in Bangladesh
  • Like all other countries, the Republic of
    Bangladesh also provides the constitutional law
    likewise All citizens are equal before law and
    are entitled to equal protection of law. Also it
    ensures that no person arrested shall be detained
    in custody without being informed, and should not
    be denied the right to consult a legal
    practitioner of his choice. All these will remain
    only as law. Majority of people in Bangladesh are
    underprivileged of their constitutional right to
    access justice due to poverty and also deprived
    of the minimum basic needs of life.A new horizon
    seems to have been mesmerizing the people of
    Bangladesh because of some modern life
    civilization. At the same time illiteracy has
    still kept them ignorant of the basic human
    rights and amenities. A new horizon seems to have

    These poor starving people cannot afford to reach
    the doors of law and get any benefit of their
    services in many cases. As a result, they
    silently suffer the injustice done to them in
    various spheres of life without any legal help.
    This is the clear cut violation of their
    fundamental rights of equality before law and the
    equal protection of law.
  • It is necessary to provide legal advice in
    Bangladesh to that kind of persons who cannot
    afford legal representation.

  • If it is not been done, then it must be a
    violation of equality before law. In order to
    provide adequate legal advice to this category,
    government of Bangladesh has implemented Legal
    Aid Services Act and National Legal Aid Services
    Organization. The general direction and
    administration of the affairs and functions of
    these organizations vested in a National Board of
    Management which is chaired by Minister, Ministry
    of Law, Justice Parliamentary Affairs
