Six principles of Pilates workout plans

Pilates is a modern form of exercise which is
gaining popularity amongst the youth. It is known
for its wide range of benefits. Regular sessions
of Pilates not only develops the core strength of
the body but also enhances the coordination of
body movements.
3
Gymnasiums in Dubai are taking up Pilates classes
as a full-fledged service which is also gaining
customers exponentially. Pilates combines aerobic
and cardio vascular exercises with strength
training in a beautiful manner. The best thing
about Pilates is that it follows a set of six
principles, which forms the core of its
effectiveness. The six principles of Pilates are
as follows.
4
  • Concentration

You need to maintain intense focus on your body
and movements of its parts while practising
Pilates. In fact, the more you concentrate on the
process of the exercise, the more the movements
you can master. Some experts compare the
concentration required in Pilates with the idea
of meditation required for Hatha Yoga.
5
  • Control

All activities in a Pilates routine is carried
out with utmost control. No motion of the body
and the stretching of the muscles should be
involuntary in Pilates. This principle trains the
mind to gain more control over the body
movements. Once you develop control over your
exercising routine, you will discover its effect
in your normal life too, as you would soon be
able to judge your body movements all the time.
6
  • Centring

The centre of the body is referred to the
abdomen, lower back, buttocks and the inner
thighs. This part of the body is considered the
powerhouse of the body according to the
principles of Pilates exercises. The principle
urges practitioners of Pilates to initiate every
movement from the powerhouse and extend the
energy outwards to all sides. This practice is
not very easy and requires time and patience to
learn.
7
  • Flow

Pilates demands elegance in movements. The smooth
flow of motion of the body parts strengthens the
powerhouse initially and extends it to the limbs
with practice. Precision in the flow of movements
takes some time to be adapted by the body, but
once it is done, one starts enjoying Pilates like
never before.
8
  • Precision

This principle insists on the maintenance of the
right movements of limbs. Any wrong movement or
incomplete motion might decrease the
effectiveness of your workout plans. In fact,
continuous practice of a wrong posture might
cause harm to your body. This brings the fact to
the light that you should practise Pilates under
the strict supervision of your trainer.
9
  • Breathing

Deep breathing must accompany Pilates. Breathing
should also synchronise with the inward and
outward motion of the limbs. A coordinated
breathing practise enhances the effects of
Pilates manifold.
