Equality between women and men is one of the
basic pillars on which modern Europe has been
constructed.

Greece

• Woman for a long time was considered inferior.
• Aristotle claimed that the woman was inferior to
  the man because she has smaller brain and that
  the woman was a mutilated male.

• In Rome, the woman was considered almost equal to
  man the woman could accompany her husband to a
  feast , but she had to be sitting and immobile.

• With the arrival of the Frank Barbarians and
  Lombards in Italy , the woman's condition was
  worse and worse.

• In the nineteenth century spread the first
  feminist instances and suffrage in Europe.In the
  United States William Godwin and his wife Mary
  Wollstonecraft gave origin to the feminist
  movement .

• The women had replaced the men sent to the
  front at work , they obtained more roles in
  society and job opportunities outside the family .

• Women have fought to support changes in the field
  of law , from voting to abortion and divorce laws
  relating to sexual violence . The female
  conquests in the Western world have resulted in
  more rights and in a less wide gap between the
  sexes .
