Title: Private investigators in Florida
1Florida Licensed Private Investigator
2Private investigators in Florida are regulated by
Floridas Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer
Services. Florida State Statute 493 further
outlines the laws and conduct all licensed
investigator within the state must comply
with. There are a couple of ways one may go about
becoming a licensed Private Investigator in
Florida. One way is that an individual may
substitute work experience in a related field
such as law enforcement to meet the experience
requirement.
3Individuals who meet this experience requirement
are still required to take a state administered
exam covering Florida State Statute 493 and pass
with a minimum of 80. Passing this exam is no
small feat as the required test covers all of
chapter 493 disciplines to include private
investigations, private security, and
repossessions. Another way for one to become
licensed as a Private Investigator in Florida, in
this case if you have no experience is the intern
option. Persons without experience are first
required to take a state authorized class.
4Upon completion of the required class one may
then intern under the supervision of a fully
licensed Private Investigator. After two years as
an intern which must be documented by the
sponsoring Private Investigator an intern would
be eligible to apply to become a fully licensed
Private Investigator. An intern wishing to become
fully licensed would first need to take and pass
the same test mentioned in option 1 above.Being
a Private Investigator can be a very rewarding
career. If you like a good challenge Private
Investigations may be right up your ally.Â
