Title: Charity for Education
1Help The Helpless Girls
2Girls Education and Gender Equity
Ministries for the Helpless provides the
scholarship to girls in low-income countries and
people who have been living for centuries under
the ancient cultural tradition when it comes to
girl education. Working closely with our
volunteers among the poor communities who may
agree to send their daughters to school but can
not afford to pay. We counsel with them and give
options. Last year, we were able to enroll three
girls in the college of nursing, a three-year
R.N. degree course. scholarships are identified
based on financial needs, scholastic achievement,
and their potential to become a positive leader
within their communities.
3Girls Education and Gender Equity
Girls education is both a key and a serious case
to reaching other development objectives.
Providing girls with an education helps break the
cycle of poverty educated women are less likely
to marry early and against their will less
likely to die in childbirth more likely to have
healthy babies and are more likely to send their
children to school. When all children have
access to a quality education rooted in human
rights and gender equality, it creates a ripple
effect of opportunity that influences generations
to come.
4Education Reduces the Spread of Diseases
- The spread of disease in developing countries is
often increased by the lack of public knowledge
about how it is transmitted. In 2014 and 2015,
youth groups in West Africa helped spread the
word about prevention of the Ebola virus,
particularly the need to avoid traditional burial
practices that spread the deadly disease.
Education keeps healthier in many ways.
5Education Improves Health
- Knowledge is key to good health because women
need to be able to read about prenatal vitamins
and other health information during their
pregnancies. This, in turn, reduces the rates of
motherly death, and improves childrens health,
too. The ability to read also is important in
educating communities about clean water and
sanitation, particularly if families need to use
filters or boil water before drinking it to avoid
waterborne illnesses and be aware of emergency
notices about the Zika virus, Ebola or HIV.
Reading keeps people healthier in various ways.
6Education Improves Food Consuming and Reduces
Malnutrition
- When people/children become educated, they learn
about agriculture and farming techniques. They
gain the ability to grow and maintain healthy
crops, which provide vegetables for meals and
additional income. Families also learn what
nutrients their children need for healthy
development, as well as foods pregnant women need
to eat to help their babies health and growth.
7The Importance of Education in Developing
Countries
- Education can be the catalyst needed to pull
families and communities out of the cycle of
poverty. Knowledge gives children the power to
dream of a better future and the confidence
needed to pursue a full education, which in turn
will help generations to come. - Education also makes a significant difference for
adults, particularly when it applies to everyday
life, consuming healthy food, health care and
gender equity. When adults learn, they become
role models to their children.
