How to Rename the QBWUSER.INI file
  • Solution 1-Rename the QBWUSER.ini file.
  • Renaming the QBWUSER.INI file erases information

Solution 1 Help for QuickBooks
  • Problem
  • Open the company file from a different folder
location (If other files or sample file do open)
  • Sometimes when working in Windows, the folder
permissions where you keep your company files can
change/become corrupted. This is not an Intuit
issue, but a system issue. If you have any
problems with the steps below or this does end up
fixing it, please consult a qualified IT
professional to repair the folder permissions.
  • 1. On your keyboard, press Windows E to open
    the Computer window.
  • 2. Browse to or search for the data file, which
will have a .qbw file extension (for
    example,mycompanyname.qbw). When looking for a
file that is located on a network server, browse
to the network drive on which the data file is
    located (for example X\QBdata).
