1Hearing Loss In Children
2What is Hearing Loss?
- So basically here we should know about hearing
loss, So the hearing loss is When we - cant hear from one ear as well as both. It can
range from mild to complete. - If you have Mild, you cant hear the soft speech.
- In Serve, Cant hear a very loud speaker.
- And in Complete, you cant hear both soft and
loud speech. This type of hearing loss is also
known as Deafness.
Hearing Loss in Children- So here we talk
about deafness or hearing loss in children and
why it's happening? And the symptom of hearing
loss. A hearing processes in child learn how to
speak or develop speech and language skill. In
past time it is undetected because of science is
not too much advance but nowadays it is a
detectable by know to symptoms of this.
3Children learn communication according to there
surroundings, if the child has hearing loss that
is undetectable and untreatable then he cant
learn speech or communication.
A hearing loss can happen when any part of the
hearing system (the brain, the auditory nerve, or
the ear) is not working in the usual way. Hearing
loss can vary greatly among people and can be
caused by many things. Hearing loss can affect a
childs ability to develop speech, language, and
social skills. The earlier children with hearing
loss start getting services, the more likely they
are to reach their full potential.
4Types of Hearing Loss in Children
- Types of Hearing Loss in children is mainly
categorized into two parts- - 1.Sensorineural hearing loss
- 2.Conductive hearing loss
- 3.Mixed hearing loss
-
- Now I discuss Both of hearing loss and causes,
symptoms of them. - 1.Sensorineural hearing loss -Sensorineural
hearing loss is caused by a problem in the inner
ear. Sensorineural hearing loss usually cannot be
cured with medicine or surgery, but hearing aids
or cochlear implants can help in most cases. In
young children, sensorineural hearing loss can
occur due to - Certain infections before birth
5- Lack of oxygen during birth
- Genetic causes
- 2.Conductive hearing loss- Conductive hearing
loss is caused by a problem in the outer or
middle ear resulting in sound being unable to
travel to the inner ear properly. Many instances
of conductive hearing loss can be treated with
medicine or surgery. Causes of conductive hearing
loss can include wax in the ear canal, fluid in
the middle ear or a hole in the eardrum. - 3.Mixed Hearing Loss- Mixed hearing
- loss is a combination of conductive and
- sensorineural hearing loss. An example
- of mixed hearing loss is when children
- with sensorineural hearing loss also
- have middle ear problems (such as fluid
- in the middle ear). This can make hearing loss
- worse.
6Causes Of Hearing Loss In Children
- Hearing Loss occurs because of many reasons,
There are many causes which Im going to explain.
Cause of hearing loss mainly divided into two
part one, present at the time of birth and the
second one is after birth- - 1.Congenital hearing loss- It is present at the
time of birth. There are both non-genetic and
genetic factors that might cause hearing loss. - Non-genetic factors include
- Birth complications
- Premature birth
- A nervous system or brain disorder
- The use of ototoxic medication by the mother
during pregnancy
7 Genetic factors that might cause congenital
hearing loss include
Autosomal recessive hearing loss, which is the
most common type of genetic congenital hearing
loss. It means that neither parent has a hearing
loss, but each parent carries a recessive gene
that gets passed to the child. Parents are
usually surprised when their child is born with
this type of hearing loss because people
typically arent even aware they have the
recessive gene.
2.Acquired hearing loss- This type of hearing
loss occur after birth. There are various causes
of acquired hearing loss, including
A perforated eardrum
Infections like meningitis, measles, mumps or
whooping cough
A serious head injury
Exposure to very loud noise over long periods
Untreated or frequent ear infections (otitis
media)
8Symptoms of Hearing Loss
Awareness of communication milestones can help
identify early signs of hearing loss.Hearing
impairment in infants may be difficult to detect,
but the sooner hearing loss is detected, the
better the chances for your child to socialise,
communicate, learn, accept their hearing loss,
and learn how to live with it. 1.Do not always
respond when called 2. Notice you only when they
see you 3. Do not make sounds other than gargles
and other vibrating noises that they can feel 4.
Need to search right and left to find the voice
or sound
