What is acne?
  • Acne is a disease which is caused by some
outbreaks of the skin lesions commonly known as
pimples. This condition is caused by the skin's
oil glands making too much sebum, an oily
substance, which leads to plugged pores. This can
also be caused by the immediate development of
bacteria called P. acne.Acne lesions attack
mostly on the face, neck, back, chest, and
shoulders. It is the known to be the most common
skin disease. However, acne is not a serious
health threat but severe acne can lead to
    disfiguring and permanent scarring.

How does acne affect?
  • Most of the young men and women will be having
at least few pimples in their whole life. Young
men are more prone to have a more serious form of
acne. Acne which happens in young women tends to
be more random and is associated with hormone
changes, such as the menstrual cycle. As women
get older with respect to time, acne often gets
better. But some women have acne for many years.
Even, some women get acne for the first time at
age 30 or 40.Most of the women feel that acne
can be an upsetting illness. Women could have
feelings of depression, poor body image, or low
self-esteem. But one should allow acne to let it
run its course. Today, almost every case of acne
can be resolved.Acne also can, sometimes, be
prevented. Talk to your dermatologist about how
you can help prevent acne and if treatment would
    help you.

How is mild acne treated?
  • There are many treatments for mild acne. Mild
acne involves whiteheads, blackheads and small
pustules. One can wash his face twice a day with
warm water and a gentle cleanser or soap at home.
Your doctor may advice you to try an
over-the-counter lotion or cream. These medicines
can make your skin dry if you use them too much.
Be sure to follow the directions. If the
medicines mentioned above don't work properly
then your doctor can prescribe you with a cream
or lotion with benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol,
    salicylic acid, or sulfur.
  • Benzoyl peroxide which works to reduce oil made
    by the glands.
  • Resorcinol, salicylic acid, and sulfur help
    breakdown whiteheads and blackheads.
  • If your acne does not get better after 6 to 8
weeks, talk to your doctor about changing your
    treatment.
