2
Feeding Swallowing Disorders
  • The first and foremost reason for drooling is a
difficulty in swallowing that is due to stroke or
some neurological disorders like Bells Palsy and
Parkinsons Disease. Also called dysphagia, it
creates problem in swallowing. Stroke can lead to
anomaly in blood flow to the brain and when it is
not treated, your nervous system will go for a
toss and therefore, you will end up with
difficulty in swallowing along with excessive
    drooling.

3
Certain Allergies and Infections
  • More often than not, when your body has an
allergy to something or has an infection, it
tends to the production of more saliva. This is
an automated reaction to flush all the toxins out
and therefore, you will end up drooling. If you
have seasonal allergies, make it a pint to treat
    it without any delay.

4
Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis
  • When you have trouble in swallowing due to a pain
in your throat, it can be due to a condition
called pharyngitis or sore throat. This will
cause red and white patches on the throat,
swollen glands, accompanied by fever. The
decrease in swallowing will increase saliva
production and therefore, it will come out during
    your sleep as a drool.

5
Sleep Apnea
  • Last but not the least, sleep apnea also leads to
drooling when you are sleeping. It happens
because there is irregular breathing during your
sleeping hours. However, sleeping on the back may
curb it to an extent. If this is the root cause
of drooling, you need to book an appointment with
    your physician without further delay.

6
Conclusion
  • These are some of the reasons behind drooling.
Sometimes, there are certain medications that
also lead to an increase in saliva production and
therefore, drooling. For more topics such
as feeding and swallowing disorders in
