Extend Your Boats Life
2
You need marine battery cable, fire alarm cables
and other durable, long-lasting cables that get
the job done right the first time so that you are
best able to serve your clients needs. It takes
a considerable amount of skill to safely and
effective install a Marine Battery Cable and
other kinds of industrial, residential or
commercial grade cables and many of these tasks
should be left to seasoned professionals. Make
sure that you have the proper skillset and the
necessary experience before you attempt to
undertake any wiring or cable installation job.
When it comes to marine cables, you put a lot of
time and energy into maintaining and outfitting
your boat, not to mention the expense. So it can
be quite a headache when things go wrong. We
often notice that, with boats in particular, it
seems like anything that can go bad, will go bad,
so extra attention needs to be paid to them to
save you time and money in the long run. Being
able to identify and quickly replace broken
equipment and cables will help get you back out
on the water in a quick and easy way and we are
here to help you.
3
But how should you go about this? How can you be
sure that it is in fact the battery cable that
needs replacing? The most common way to identify
this is by noticing a problem with your boats
electrical system. By flipping the switch to move
the outboard down and up once you will see if
your battery has enough power to complete the
task. If it is successful, you know your boats
battery is getting enough power and you can move
on to further testing. If not, the problem lies
within the battery or in the batterys cable. But
make sure your boat is in a neutral throttle
position when you perform this test, otherwise
the results may not be accurate. You can move it
in and out a few times just to be on the safe
side.
4
A common source of boat issues lies within the
battery. Check for corrosion by thoroughly
examining each part of the battery. You are
looking for rust and other built up material that
will negatively impact its performance.
Performing regular maintenance on your boat and
in particular, the boats electrical system is
critical to the boats long term health and your
success on the open water. Many problems can be
avoided simply by performing the correct
maintenance procedures.
5
If you notice corrosion on your boats battery,
it may be time to replace the entire battery or
have it serviced. Hopefully, in your situation,
the problem lies within the much cheaper and
easier to replace battery cables. You will want
to make sure you have the right knowledge and
skillset to replace these, as inexperienced
operators can make disastrous errors that will
result in an even worse problem, or even injury.
But knowing enough to diagnose the problem is a
great step so that you can be sure you are
getting fair prices on replacement equipment and
that what a service technician tells you is
accurate.
