WHAT TO SAY IN COVER LETTER WHEN APPLYING FOR
CAREGIVER POSITION WITH NO PRIOR
EXPERIENCE Caregiver Cover Letter
2
Caregiving comes from within. So, if you want to
work as a caregiver, but do not have prior
experience, that is really not such a great
problem. In fact, your cover letter can sell you
as a caregiver in a great way, if only you can
write it properly. Writing a cover letter for a
caregiver position is no rocket science. But it
does have some rules. The typical introduction,
main body and conclusion rule applies here too.
And it is obvious what you have to do in each
section. Let us concentrate on what you can say
when writing a caregiver cover letter to apply
for a caregiver position when you have no prior
experience in hand.
3
WHAT TO INCLUDE?
Basically, you have to inform the hiring manager
that you are the best in the caregiving field. If
you have performed caregiving work in a
volunteer capacity before, make sure that you
mention it. It may count as experience in the
sense that it will give the hiring manager
something to hold on to. If you do not have
volunteer experience to your name, do not worry
about it.
4
MAIN BODY
The main body of the cover letter must
concentrate on your specific caregiving
skills. These would include knowledge of
providing personal care to patients, such as
grooming, bathing, and toileting. In addition,
you can focus on your ability to provide
assistance in feeding patients, and
administering oral medication as well. Remember
that your role is that of a personal service
provider, which is why you must concentrate on
all that you can offer in this capacity.
5
ADD YOUR PERSONAL TRAITS AND ABILITIES
Ensuring that your cover letter speaks volumes
about your personal traits is also important. In
most cases, personal traits are on the same
scale as professional ones. In a caregiver
role, they are heavier, as the kind of person
you are will denote how well you can work in
this position. Talk about how patient you are,
and how well you can handle emergency
situations.
6
Also, focus on your ability to listen, and
provide companionship, as well as counseling to
patients going through emotional incidents.
Highlight the fact that you are a physically
active individual, so that the hiring manager
can picture you looking after the physical needs
of assigned patients. Typically, your cover
letter should concentrate on your ability to
handle patients physical as well and emotional
needs. And if caregiving is inherent, you will
not need experience to back up your claims of
being the best for the position.
