21Matthew 1624-26 Then Jesus said to his
disciples, If anyone would come after me, he
must deny himself and take up his cross and
follow me. For whoever wants to save his life
will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me
will find it. What good will it be for a man if
he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?
Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
22- Holiness calls for an engaged mind
- Holiness calls for self-control
- Holiness rests on hope in Jesus Christ
231 Peter 113-16 Therefore, prepare your minds
for action be self-controlled set your hope
fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus
Christ is revealed.
24Hebrews 619-20 We have this hope as an anchor
for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the
inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus,
who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He
has become a high priest forever, in the order of
Melchizedek.
251 John 31-5 How great is the love the Father has
lavished on us, that we should be called children
of God! And that is what we are! The reason the
world does not know us is that it did not know
him. Dear friends, now we are children of God,
and what we will be has not yet been made known.
But we know that when he appears, we shall be
like him, for we shall see him as he is.
261 John 31-5 Everyone who has this hope in him
purifies himself, just as he is pure. Everyone
who sins breaks the law in fact, sin is
lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so
that he might take away our sins. And in him is
no sin.
27- Holiness calls for an engaged mind
- Holiness calls for self-control
- Holiness rests on hope in Jesus Christ
- Holiness looks like obedience and transformation
281 Peter 113-16 Therefore, prepare your minds
for action be self-controlled set your hope
fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus
Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not
conform to the evil desires you had when you
lived in ignorance.
29Colossians 31-10 Since, then, you have been
raised with Christ, set your hearts on things
above, where Christ is seated at the right hand
of God. Set your minds on things above, not on
earthly things. For you died, and your life is
now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who
is your life, appears, then you also will appear
with him in glory.
30Colossians 31-10 Put to death, therefore,
whatever belongs to your earthly nature sexual
immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and
greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the
wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these
ways, in the life you once lived. But now you
must rid yourselves of all such things as these
anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language
from your lips.
31Colossians 31-10 Do not lie to each other, since
you have taken off your old self with its
practices and have put on the new self, which is
being renewed in knowledge in the image of its
Creator.
32What is holiness? It is the process of being
transformed from a sinner into the image of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
