• Whether we realise it or not, our pet dogs are
  continually trying to communicate with us, but
  its not always easy to know what theyre trying
  to say! Here are a few examples of what your pet
  may be trying to communicate to you when they do,
  or act, in a certain way.
• Lying on your feet
• This can be a clear indicator that your dog
  believes that you belong to them, and not just
  the other way around! By lying on or across your
  feet, your pet is staking their claim on you and
  is showing that they are there to protect you.

• Copying your mood
• It has long been said (and indeed proven) that
  our pets can pick up on our moods and even
  reflect them in their own behaviour. If youre
  having a bad day and feel glum, doubtless your
  dogs expression and mannerisms may mimic this.
  So, if you want a happy dog
• Acting maniacal!
• This kind of behaviour is a strong sign that your
  dog hasnt been able to expend enough energy, So,
  theyre having to entertain themselves and burn
  off their excess vitality on their own.

• Destroying things when youre away from them
• Separation anxiety is no joke for most of our pet
  dogs, and they can get themselves worked up into
  a state while they worry about when (and if!)
  youll be returning. While some dogs simply bark
  for a few minutes after youve left, others can
  resort to destructive behaviour and get
  themselves into all sorts of bother.
• Behaving differently for no known reason
• Nobody knows your pet better than you, and if
  they suddenly start acting a little strange,
  youll be the first to notice it.

• There could be many reasons for this change in
  your pets behaviour, but one of them could be
  that your dog is sick, especially if the change
  in behaviour persists for more than 24 hours.
• Our pets are always trying to communicate to us,
  and while nobody expects you to be Dr Doolittle,
  there is also nobody better placed than you to
  try and interpret their non-verbal messages.
  However, if youre worried that your pet may be
  trying to tell you something that you simply
  cant fathom, then it would be best to seek help
  from an outside source. If your pet is sick,
  spotting the symptoms and acting on them quickly
  can sometimes be the difference between life and
  death, so never ignore any changes to your dogs
  behaviour.
