Introduction

• Oil seeds crops occupy an important place in the
  agricultural an industrial economy of the
  country. India is perhaps is the only country
  that has the most commercial varieties of oil
  seeds. Mustard oil is also one of the major oil
  seeds from which edible oil is produced. It is
  also used for preparation of pickles and as well
  as mustard oil cake is used as a cattle feed.
  There are three principal types used to make
  mustard seeds - 1. White mustard (Yellow) 2.
  Black mustard 3. Brown mustard

Manufacturing Process

• The manufacturing process is well established and
  simple. To begin with dry mustard seeds, are fed
  to oil expeller for extraction of oil wherein
  about 90 of the oil is extracted. Liquid oil and
  solid portion (oil cake) is then separated in the
  filter press. Oil is packed either in tins or
  bottles and oil cake is sold to cattle feed
  manufacturers. Recovery of oil from oilseeds
  depends upon quality of mustard seeds and it is
  range of 30 to 35 .
