Title: Piper Fittings and Its components
1Piper Fittings and Its components
Pipe fitting components are joined together with
pumps and valves to make pipelines. The common
connotation refers to plastic and metal pipes to
carry fluid. There are other types of fitting
for handrails where leakage proof is not the
priority. Considering the material of choice,
pipe fittings can be threaded or welded,
chemically adhered, or mechanically
joined. Although pipe fittings are the same as
tube fittings, there are some differences. Pipe
fittings are not joined together by soldering as
done in tube fittings. Here you will see typical
connection methods and fittings requirements.
2Malleable and Cast Irons It falls under
bell-spigot and Hubless styles. Hubless styles
rely on stainless steel band clamp that forms a
seal after compressing the elastomeric material.
It is mainly known as rubber plumbing where the
transition from one material to another is
required. Cast iron is joined with mechanical
compressions or bolted flanges. It is applied in
underground projects to settle the stress of the
pipe. As the ductile iron pipe has improved
mechanical strength and lower cost, it has
greater usage than malleable iron
fittings. Alloy steel fittings are used for
commercial as well as residential purposes. Steel
and Alloys Nowadays alloy steel pipe fittings
manufacturer chooses seamless or welded pipe over
normal steel fittings. It is often used to match
the end thread of the pipe. Considering the
pressure and size, they are joined using
socket-weld and butt-weld methods. Socket welding
is restricted to small diameters with various
classes like 3000, 6000 ratings. Although
butt-fittings are stronger, socket fittings are
still preferred for threaded joints. For tubing
and piping, Stainless steel 304 Pipe fittings are
a classical choice for their corrosion and
chemical resistance properties. But when the
temperature falls below 1640 degrees Fahrenheit,
it is not suitable as it precipitates carbide.
As per the manufacturing rules, carbide content
must be limited. 304l pipe fittings circumvent
this problem as it offers lower carbon content.
It can be used in high- temperature applications
including welding. For other particular
applications, stainless steel is made with
additives like molybdenum or nickel.
Stainless Steel Piping and Tubing The pipe
fittings are made with a combination of chromium
and nickel or solid chromium. It includes welded
and seamless pipe, electric fusion pipe, large
diameter pipe, etc. For basic tubing
applications, corrosion resistance must be the
highest priority. Martensitic or Ferritic steel
is produced to be either annealed or heated. For
this purpose, authentic stainless steel is used.
3For food processing, sanitation is the utmost
priority. Sanitary tubing is used in this regard
to avoid corrosion and enhance cleaning. For a
specific purpose, difference tolerance limits are
already set up. There are some other
applications like aircraft hydraulic tubing,
aircraft tubing, etc. Mainly 304 modelsare
highly preferred as a generic choice.
