  Corporation, is a rocket and spacecraft company
  founded in 2002 by Elon Musk.
• SpaceX was founded with a goal of reducing space
  transportation costs to enable the colonization
  of Mars.
• SpaceX has close ties with NASA, including a 1.6
  billion agreement to deliver cargo supplies to
  the International Space Station.
• Musk conceptualized a project to land an
  experimental greenhouse and grow vegetation on
  Mars. The project was named Mars Oasis.

  launched unmanned spacecraft and also signed a
  contract with NASA to launch astronauts by 2017.

  established companies in this field like the
  Boeing and Virginia-based Orbital Sciences.

• What are some of the achievements by
  SpaceX?
• SpaceX became the first company to launch a
  payload into orbit and return it to Earth intact
  in the early 2010s. This was earlier done only by
  government agencies like NASA and Roscosmos. On
  Dec 21 2015, SpaceX landed and recovered the
  first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket.
• Whats Special about the SpaceX rockets?
• Most of the rockets were fueled with solid fuels
  back in the day. Robert Goddard launched the
  worlds first liquid fueled rocket in 1926. Since
  then, the concept of liquid fuel rockets hasnt
  changed much. Speaking of SpaceX rockets, yes,
  they are unique. The Falcon is a single engine
  rocket, The Falcon 9 has 9 engines and the Falcon
  Heavy will have 27 engines that will fly.

  on the companys own floor.

• SpaceX is planning to fly crewed members to Space
  soon. Company have designed Dragon spacecraft
  with crew compatibility and has used Dragon
  spacecraft and is planning to use the same to fly
  crews.

SpaceX Competitors 

• As SpaceX was founded much later, he had a lot of
  competitors. Boeing among its competitors is
  planning to fly crewed space missions. Boeing is
  planning to fly crewed spacecraft along with
  Musks Dragon. Apart from Boeing, Orbital
  Sciences, the company that shares cargo-run
  contracts with SpaceX is also a competitor of
  SpaceX.
• United Launch Alliance (commonly known as ULA) is
  a partnership of Lockheed Martin and Boeing is
  another competitor of SpaceX. Musk is at war with
  it for defense launching business. Richard
  Bransons Virgin Galactic is a marginal player,
  planning to sell only suborbital rides for
  vacationers with deep pockets. Recently, Virgin
  Galactic and Blue Origin are planning for a Space
  Flight on the 12th July 2021 and 20th July 2021
  respectively.
• Indias space agency the Indian Space Research
  Organisation (ISRO) has built a reputation for
  launching rockets into space at very convenient
  prices and comes as a major competitor space
  agency to SpaceX.

SpaceX Goals

• Holding the top position in the rocket business
  is one way of looking at it. Although Musk says
  that his biggest target is sending people to
  Mars. which does not make him unusual unless he
  can actually achieve it.
• SpaceX is planning to fly human passengers to
  Mars for as little as 500,000 per seat. Although
  the above is quite not possible till date. The
  laws of economics would be more complex to crack
  than the laws of physics to fly people at this
  expense.
