ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Maharana Pratap Horticulture University is a
public institution of higher education. It is
located in Karnal, Delhi NCR. Moreover, it was
established under the State government of Haryana
Act 32 of 2016. Finally, it started working in
2016. As the name suggests, the university is
dedicated to the goal of imparting knowledge on
agriculture and farming. Hence, it offers three
courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and
doctoral levels. Furthermore, the university was
established in the state of Haryana because it is
an agrarian state. While agriculture is the
primary occupation of the state, there was a need
to diversify the crops. Additionally, this time
the focus is on floriculture, Fruit science,
vegetable science.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Lastly, the university is located on NH1 and it
is 146 km away from Delhi. It is also connected
by railway. The University also has research
centers in Jind, Jhajjar, Ambala, and Murthal.
Moreover, the Director of these Regional Research
Centres is Dr. Ramesh Kumar Goyal. In order to
take admission to the Maharana Pratap University,
one needs to pass an entrance test. However, the
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture
University conducts this entrance exam. Before
that, one needs to fill the application form
available on the website of the university. Then,
after the submission of all the required
documents. Finally, one needs to submit the
application fee. Yet, as of now, the university
has not uploaded the admission guidelines for the
2021-22 batch.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Additionally, the University provides
scholarships to students with exemplary OGPA.
Finally, the University organizes various
training programs to equip its students with some
practical knowledge. For instance, back in 2019,
a Training program on Statistical Data Analysis
was organized. Moreover, it lasted for 15 days.
Besides, earlier to that, a Post-Harvesting
Handling of Produce Training session was
organized in the same year. The university has
also organized some workshops for the student.
Consequently, these workshops aim to enlighten
the students about career opportunities and the
dedication towards setting a goal in life.
Besides, the Maharana Pratap University has been
actively organizing International and National
Conferences.

COURSES OFFERED
Bachelors Firstly, the Maharana Pratap
University offers only one course at the
undergraduate level in the science stream. It is
B.Sc. Hons in Horticulture. It is a four-year
degree program. Moreover, the university follows
a credit system. Additionally, an academic year
is divided into two semesters. Masters
Similarly, The University offers one
Post-graduate course, M.Sc. horticulture.
However, it is available in three different
specializations. Namely, Fruit Science, Vegetable
Science, and Floriculture Landscape
Architecture. Ph.D. Finally, for the Ph.D.
courses, the candidate has to get his Masters
degree from a reputed University. Moreover,
he/she should have a minimum of 55 marks. The
University offers Doctorate only in Horticulture.
It's too available in the above-mentioned three
specializations.

HISTORY
The foundation stone of the Maharana Pratap
Horticulture University was laid on 6th April
2016. Moreover, the then Union Agriculture
Farmers Welfare Minister and the Chief Minister
of Haryana graced the occasion with their
presence. Initially, Honble PM Mr. Narendra Modi
talked about this university in his budget
session of 2014-2015. In fact, it the first and
foremost university teaching Horticulture in the
state of Haryana. The university offers UG, PG,
and Doctoral programs in Fruit Science, Vegetable
Science, and Floriculture Landscape
Architecture. Above all, it offers three
specializations as well. Furthermore, the
university is planning to start a web portal.
This portal will provide information related to
agriculture to students as well as farmers.
Besides, the University has also tried to set up
a library. So, that it can provide the resource
material in hard copy for its students. In Fact,
the students participated in it with enthusiasm.
