The Right Way to Install Solvent Trap Adapter
2
  • Installing an adapter is pretty much easier,
although some adapters come with some kits that
make their installation a little bit tricky. But
let's first define an adapter by definition, an
adapter is any device that allows a connection of
one hardware to another such that without the
device, the connection wouldnt have been
possible. In the case of a solvent trap adapter,
it makes possible the connection of a solvent
    trap to a firearm.
  • Therefore, having an adapter means that you dont
have to be changing your solvent trap anytime you
    change your firearm.

3
  • Installing a solvent trap adapter could be as
easy as screwing in your adapter onto your muzzle
and doing the same for the solvent trap threaded
mouth. However, there are different types of
adapters, and you need to familiarize yourself
with their components to make their installation
seamless. As earlier pointed out, some adapters
come with crush washers, flat washers, and thread
covers. In case you are not familiar with the
term, a washer is a hollow disk designed to
distribute the load exerted by a bolt/nut or, in
this case, by a solvent trap adapter or a flash
    guard.
  • To install a solvent adapter that comes with
kits, as discussed above, you need to take the
muzzle of your firearm and remove the flash guard
and its crush washer. After unscrewing your flash
guard, the endpoint of your barrel should look
like a bolt. Now tuck in your crush washer to the
base of your exposed threaded muzzle and screw in
your adapter, screw in your flash guard, and tuck
in your flat washer, which serves as a seat for
your solvent trap and helps in distributing the
load exerted by your solvent trap screw fastener.
In a nutshell, place your firearm muzzle next to
    a crush washer.

4
  • Then your adapter with the internal diameter
threaded end facing the crush washer followed by
another crush washer that comes with the adapter,
then the flash guard place your flat crusher
next to your flash guard, and finally your
solvent trap. If you can follow the order of
arrangement, then all you need to do is just
couple each object in that exact order. If your
adapter comes with a thread cover, make sure you
remove it before tucking in your flat crusher and
    thus your solvent trap.
  • However, suppose your adapter is like the
Threaded Stainless Steel Adapter that does not
come with a thread cover, nor does it come with a
crush or flat washer. In that case, check the
adapter's thread's internal and outside diameter
to see if it suits your specification. Follow the
same process of removing your flash guard and
screw in your adapter onto the thread of your
firearm nozzle, and mount your solvent trap.

5
  • While your firearm nozzle is attached to your
adapter's inner thread, the solvent is attached
to the outside diameter or thread. It is
essential to know both the solvent trap adapter
thread's internal and outside diameter that will
be suitable for your firearm and solvent filter.
