How to Hang a Hammock with One Tree

Description:

A hammock is the ultimate pleasure of any trip. Be it alone in the woods, or with friends. Hanging it properly will not only elevate your relaxing experience but also ensure your safety. Without a secure hanging place and grip, the hammock can cause you to fall and injure yourself. The angle is also an important issue to keep in check. Keeping these two things right, you can enjoy a perfect day with a hammock without any incident. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Title: How to Hang a Hammock with One Tree

1
Hang a Hammock with One Tree
2
  • If you are a hammock person, you will always pack
your hammock whenever you are going camping or
    outing.
  • And it is understandable due to the comfort that
    a hammock provides.
  • No wonder small babies fall asleep in their
cradle. The weightlessness makes it more
comfortable as nothing is blocking our back like
    a bed.

3
  • But what happens if you have only one tree to
hang your hammock to? You will need at least
another tree within a 20ft distance to hang the
other end of your hammock. So if there is no
tree, do you abandon your relaxing afternoon? Of
    course not!

4
  • We are going to tell you how to hang a hammock
with one tree with a few simple materials.
  • And you will be left in aww thinking why didnt
    you think about it before.

5
Things Required To Hang A Hammock
  • 40-60 ft. of paracord.
  • A metal ground anchor.
  • A paracord prusik loop.
  • The hammock of your choice.

6
Selecting The Right Place
  • The first and most important thing is selecting
the right place. You dont want a tree on the
slop. Otherwise, you wont be able to level your
    hammock.
  • As there is no second tree to work as the anchor,
we have to use a ground anchor. And the sloppy
ground will not help with it. So select a place
    that is relatively leveled.
  • At the same time, check if the tree has a strong
branch within 10 ft. If not, you might have to do
some trick on putting up the paracord/non-extendab
le rope over the strong branch. We are doing this
    to make our second anchor.

7
Start Setting Up With The Tree
  • Put your paracords in one bundle and throw it
over the strongest branch of the tree. You can
use the paracord pack as a weight with some
    paracord in it.
  • After it is over the branch, tile a loop so that
it doesnt escape and can take on some weight.
And then tie it to the tree.
  • Stretch about 30 ft. away and mark your second
anchor location. This is where we are going to
attach the paracord to the ground and form our
    hammocks hanging place.

8
Put Down The Ground Anchor
  • Ground the anchor in the selected place. It
should be at the same angle as the tree. Remember
to check the ground and put the anchor at least 2
    ft in the ground.
  • If the ground isnt strong enough, the anchor
wont do any good. That is why you should select
    a strong grounding place.
  • After the anchor is grounded, put the paracord
through the anchor hole and pull with all your
    might.
  • Putting down your body weight will help you more
than just pulling it upwards from the anchor.
  • After that form a butterfly knot 2 ft. from the
knot. Put the free end of your rope in the anchor
and tie it. Make sure it is strong and sturdy.

9
Paracord Prusik Loop Installation
  • Time to put up the hammock. Take the prusik loop
and install it on the rope at eye level.
  • Use three to four knots to make it is secured
with the prusik loop. This will give the hammock
some strength and wont come off of the loop.
  • Tie the loop securely.

10
The Hammock Is Up And Ready!
  • Now comes the easy part. Attach the hammocks tree
attachment or rope to the tree on the same level
you have tightened the prusik loop. And you are
    all set to go.

Things To Keep In Mind
  • Even if you have an angled slop, remember it
shouldnt be more than 30 degrees. Over that will
cause your hammock to slide to one side and lose
    tension.
