165056 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, a

architecture. The mosque was built by a team of
some 5,000 workers. The major structure material
was red sandstone, but some white marble was also
used.

Humayun's TombHumayuns tomb is Placed near the
crossing of Mathura Road and Lodhi road, this
magnificent garden tomb is the first considerable
example of Mughal architecture in India. It was
built in 1565 A.D. nine years after the death of
Humayun, by his oldest widow Bega Begam. Inside
the walled inclusion, the most prominent features
are the garden squares (Charbagh) with pathways
and water channels, centrally situated well
proportional tomb topped by a double roof.
The Jantar Mantar Jantar Mantar is located in
the city of New Delhi. Jantar Mantar means
Instruments for measuring the harmony of the
heavens. It comprises 13 architectural astronomy
instruments. The site is one of five built by
Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, from 1723
onwards, revising the calendar and astronomical
tables. The key determination of making the
Jantar Mantar was to accumulate astronomical
tables and to predict the times and movements of
the sun, moon, and planets. Some of these
purposes nowadays would be classified as
astronomy.
