Does Having a Standard Bath Increase the Property
Value
According to a recent study, homes with bathtubs
tend to sell for more money than those without
them. The question is, will not having a Standard
Bath affect the price of my property? While
there is no definitive answer, there are a few
things you can do to make your home more
appealing to buyers. For example, consider adding
a shower instead of a bathtub, or installing a
spa-like shower system. By taking these simple
steps, you can ensure that your home will sell
for top dollar even if it doesnt have a
bathtub!

  • What Is a Standard Bath and Why Is It Important
    For Property Buyers
  • A bathtub is a type of tub or small pool in which
one can bathe. Most modern baths are made of
    porcelain-enameled cast iron, acrylic,
    fiberglass-reinforced polyester, or
    porcelain-enameled steel. The word bath
originates from the Old English word bæð which
evolved from the Proto-Germanic badjan, meaning
to heat. A full-size bath holds between 80 and
190 liters (17 and 42 gallons) of water. A small
bathtub may hold as little as 30 liters (6.6
gallons). There are various types of baths
    including alcove baths, drop-in baths,
    free-standing baths, shower baths, and
under-mount baths. Each type has different
    installation requirements and benefits.
  • For example, an alcove standard bath fits in a
three-sided alcove. And is the most common type
of tub in the UK. It is also the most economical
option. A drop-in tub fits partially or
completely above the floor level. That means it
does not require a skirt to cover the exposed
edges as an alcove tub does. A free-standing
bathtub can fit anywhere in a bathroom. These
usually come with their own plumbing so no
installation is required. Recessed baths have a
design to fit into the wall for a polished look
whereas undermount baths are suitable to be fit
under a countertop for additional storage space.
Property buyers should consider their needs when
it comes to choosing a bathtub as there are many
factors to take into account. These include
    installation requirements, size, shape, and
    material.
  • How many people in the UK do not have Standard
    baths
  • A YouGov poll from 2018 found that just over 1 in
10 UK households (11) do not have a bathtub.
This figure has remained relatively unchanged
since 2015. This was when the same poll found
that 13 of households did not have a bathtub.
The results of the poll suggest that there has
been little change in the number of people
without bathtubs over the past three years.
  • However, it is worth noting that the poll was
conducted among a limited number of people. And
may not be representative of the entire UK
population. When asked about their preferred
bathing method. Most of those without bathtubs
were more likely to say they preferred showering
    (70) over bathing in a sink or basin (18). Just
6 said they preferred taking standard baths in
a lake or river. The results of the poll suggest
that those without bathtubs are more likely to
shower than bathe in a sink or basin. But that a
small minority still prefer to take baths in
    natural bodies of water.
  • The Implications Of Not Having A Standard Bath On
    The Price Of Your Home
  • Many people might not think about it. But the
presence (or absence) of a bathtub in a home can
have an impact on its value. For starters, homes
with baths tend to be more desirable to
potential buyers, as they offer the opportunity
for a relaxing soak at the end of a long day.
Furthermore, standard baths can add to the resale
value of a home. Perhaps. some estimates suggest
that a home with a bathtub can sell for up to 5
    more.

3
It is when a comparable home is without one. So
if youre thinking of selling your home in the
future. Then its worth considering whether
adding a bathtub could help boost its value. Of
course, theres more to selling a home than just
its price tag. But if youre looking to get the
best return on your investment, a bathtub is
definitely worth considering. 4. How to use
Standard Bathtub installation to Increase
property value Many homeowners are looking for
ways to increase the value of their property.
While there are a number of ways to do this, one
often less noticeable method is bathtub
installation. In addition to being a great way to
improve the appearance of a bathroom, a new
bathtub can also add significant value to a home.
Because they are typically fit by professionals,
standard bath can be an expensive project.
However, the return on investment can be well
worth the cost, as a new bathtub can easily add
several thousand dollars to the value of a home.
Given the potential return on investment, bathtub
installation is an excellent way to increase the
value of your property. Final Thoughts When it
comes to home renovations, there are a lot of
things to consider both in terms of trends and
personal preferences. But if youre thinking
about selling your property soon, its important
to also think about what potential buyers might
want. And while eliminating the standard bath
may save you some money in the short term, it
could actually end up costing you when you go to
sell. So unless you have a very specific reason
for doing so, we would recommend against taking
out the tub.
