A consumer has the right to make a complaint in
the forums as per the Consumer Protection Act of
1986.
  • The value of the claim at the District Consumer
    Court must exceed 20 lakhs.
  • The claim value should be between INR 1 crore and
    INR 20 lakhs, according to the State Consumer
    Forum.
  • The claim value need to exceed one core,
    according to the National Consumer Forum.

What is the Consumer Forum's limitation period?
The Consumer Forum's limitation period is
approximately two years. It is necessary to file
the complaint within these two years. It will be
harder for the consumer to obtain justice the
longer they take to file, as all that will be
asked of them in the end will be, "Why did you
take so long in filing the case?"
