Air cooled chillers with free-cooling technology
Mitsubishi Electric presents a full range of air
cooled chillers with free-cooling technology and
cooling capacities from 302 to 1649 kW. Dedicated
to all kinds of applications, from comfort to
process and IT Cooling, this range of chillers
utilise the cold outdoor air for cooling the
indoor environment, fully harnessing the saving
potential contained in this precious renewable
source. Thanks to special heat exchangers
featuring a large surface area together with
advanced logics for free-cooling management, the
load of the compressors is reduced to zero. And
this already occurs at positive outdoor
temperatures. Three free-cooling
modes Climaveneta and RC chillers features a
smartly managed free-cooling system aimed at
achiving always the chiller best performance, in
any condition. Accordingly to the outdoor air
conditions and operating water temperature, the
chiller automatically switches between total
free-cooling, hybrid free-cooling and mechanical
cooling mode. As the outdoor air temperature
drops 1 degree below the returning water
temperature the unit starts to use outdoor air to
cool water (hybrid free-cooling), partially
benefitting from the free-cooling effect. The
free-cooling capacity grows with lower air
temperature, until it covers the entire cooling
demand and the compressors are completely
switched off (total free-cooling), thus achieving
incredibly high operating efficiency (EER values
around 220).
Eco-friendly Fully committed to support the
creation of a greener tomorrow, the Climaveneta
and RC free-cooling chillers are also available
with eco- friendly refrigerants the innovative
R513A gas - which represents a low GWP
alternative to R134a units, and the greener
1234ze refrigerant featuring 0 ODP and almost 0
GWP values. Combining reduced refrigerant charge
with a low GWP refrigerant, these units boast the
lowest amount of CO2eq in the scroll unit market,
thus resulting as the perfect choice for any new
forward-looking installation. Three compressor

according to their target and the requirements of
the HVAC plant. The free-cooling chillers are
available with scroll, screw and oil-free
compressors optimized for a variety of
refrigerants, from medium- low GWP to almost 0
