Thank you for following along on how we get
through important life skills for students. In
our previous post, "Top 19 Life Skills for
Students Using English Language Lab Software,"
we covered all the skills that students require
for both personal and successful learning. As we
continue our journey, we will learn the 11th life
skill honesty. This skill is essential to
developing confidence and honesty in many aspects
of life, making it one of the most important life
skills for school students.
If you missed our earlier discussion on the top
19 life skills, you can read up here
?? https//www.englishlab.co.in/blog/top-19-life-s
kills-for-students/ Now, lets look at how
honesty helps to promote personal growth and
success.
Honesty is an essential skill in life that acts
as the foundation for respect and honesty. It
means being open and truthful in our acts and
remarks. Introducing honesty into your everyday
life improves the relationships you have,
increases your confidence, and creates a pleasant
atmosphere for you. Its a valuable life skill
that supports both personal development and unity
within communities.
3
Developing Trust Strong and trustworthy
connections can be developed by honesty. People
are more likely to respect and have confidence in
you when they know they may depend on you, to
tell the truth.
  1. Increases Respect Honesty makes others respect
you. When you tell the truth, you come out as
trustworthy and moral, which enhances your
    reputation.
  2. Encourages Self-Respect Being honest also
includes being loyal to oneself. It involves
recognizing and supporting your own principles,
which can improve your ethics and sense of
    identity.
  3. Avoids Problems Misunderstandings and arguments
can be avoided by being truthful. It allows open
communication and is helpful in solving problems
    before they get worse.
  4. Helps Good Behavior Being honest helps you make
decision-making that is based on justice and
truth rather than lies or force.
  5. Creates Strong Communities People collaborate
more successfully in a community where honesty is
valued, which creates a friendly and cooperative
    atmosphere.

4
Okay, to help you understand it more clearly!
Honesty, lets view a simple shortly valuable
story
Once upon a time, a woodcutter lived on the side
of the river. Every day, he cut down trees and
sold the wood to make a way to survive. One day,
while working alongside the river, he
accidentally dropped his axe into the deep water.
He was disappointed since the axe was important
to his work.
The woodcutter prayed to God for help, and an
angel appeared. The angel questioned him about
what happened. The woodcutter described his loss
and expressed real sadness.
The angel immediately showed a golden axe and
asked whether it belonged to the woodcutter. The
woodcutter honestly stated that it was not his
and refused to accept it. Next, the angel
returned with a silver axe, which the woodcutter
recognized as his own. He kindly received it. The
angel was pleased with the woodcutters honesty
and rewarded him with both the golden and silver
axes.
5
The woodcutter was pleased and expressed his
gratitude to the angel.
However, when the woodcutters selfish friend saw
the prizes, he attempted that he had dropped his
axe. When the angel arrived at and inquired
whether the missing axe was his, his friend
selfishly claimed it was. The angel then brought
out a golden axe and, judging the mans
dishonesty, returned it and scared him away.
The story shows that honesty is always rewarded.
The woodcutters honesty earned him high praise
and worth, when dishonesty disappointed his
friend. Honesty supports respect for oneself and
others, and it is highly valued in society.
Understanding the value of honesty in everyday
life will help you develop trust, respect, and
integrity in all of your relationships.
6
I hope that my story and information about the
life skill of honesty helps you understand its
value in everyday life. Now, lets look at
another important skill being an encourager and
never giving up.
Having this skill is essential for students
because it increases strength and supports others
on their path in life.
Okay, to give you a better understanding of the
concept Be an Encourager Never Give Up, we
will discuss a small shortly fundamental to the
story that successfully shows this topic
Be an Encourager Never Give Up
7
Once upon a time, three elephants were chained to
a stake in the ground with a thin rope. They were
too small as newborn elephants to break free from
this rope, therefore they never attempted it. The
elephants grew in size and strength, yet they
never tried to break free from the rope. They had
been trained to believe that they couldnt break
free basically because they couldnt when they
were younger.
One day, a tourist observed the big elephants
standing motionless and wondered why they didnt
run away. The trainer said that the elephants had
been trained to think they couldnt escape, but
the fact that the rope was no longer strong
enough to hold them. The story in question shows
us that we might sometimes restrict ourselves by
holding older beliefs. We, like elephants, may
feel trapped as a result of previous ideas or
failures. However, it is important to question
these restrictions and keep trying, no matter how
tough they appear.
Be an Encourager Never Give Up
8
Remember that commitment and rejecting to give up
may help us overcome our own self-imposed
limitations and achieve amazing things.
For a more in-depth explanation and extra
insights on the skill Be an Encourager Never
Give Up, watch This video, where we go more
deeply into the idea and give more important tips.

Common sense, at its basic level, is a
fundamental degree of practical knowledge and
judgment that everyone depends on every day of
their life. The meaning of this phrase should be
underlined because it refers to being able to
make reasonable conclusions and judgments based
on universal knowledge, without much thought or
discussion.
As the old saying says, Common sense is not a
gift, but a punishment. Because you must deal
with others who do not have it. (Unknown Author)
This demonstrates how common sense frequently
includes navigating situations where others may
lack it, making it an essential life skill for
school students to learn. Read the below for a
short story about the Four Brahmins to show the
importance of Common Sense and life skills are.
10
Once upon a time, there were four Brahmins
acknowledged for their powerful poetry knowledge.
They went to test their talents in the jungle and
headed across a collection of bones. They saw
this as a chance to display their knowledge, so
they made a plan to bring the dead animal to life.
Three Brahmins excitedly started to use their
wisdom to save the animal. However, the fourth
Brahmin remained worried. He saw that the bones
appeared to belong to a lion and warned the
others about the dangers of their plan. Despite
his fears, the other three Brahmins laughed at
him and went on with their plan. The three
Brahmins assembled the bones and arranged them
into a skeleton. They read out chants that would
restore flesh and blood to the bones, eager to
bring the lion back to life. When the lion came
back to life, their efforts appeared to have
worked well.

However, as soon as the lion came to life, it
roared loudly. The fourth Brahmins warning
proved right, as the restored lion presented a
serious threat. The three Brahmins knowledge and
determination had gotten them into grave
difficulties because they ignored common sense
and practical knowledge.
The story above highlights that, while knowledge
is strong, common sense is required to make good
decisions. Common sense indicates that
information is used in a practical and safe
method. Without it, even the most comprehensive
knowledge might result in poor results. If you
want to learn more about life skills and how
they can be used in life, watch our latest video.

develop them successfully.

In todays fast-changing environment, thinking
creatively and finding fresh ideas is more
important than ever. Out of the Box Thinking is
a life skill that encourages school students to
solve issues in creative ways rather than using
traditional techniques. It means looking further
the clear, challenging ideas, and exploring new
opportunities.
This talent not only improves problem-solving
skills but also promotes creativity and
flexibility. It helps school students stand out
in academic and personal contexts by challenging
them to think outside of the box and create
surprising interactions. Now, lets look at this
topic through the lens of a fascinating story
that points out the power of creative thinking.
19
Once upon a time, a blind boy sat on the steps of
a busy street, a hat beside him and a sign
seeking attention. The sign simply said that he
was blind and asking for money. One day, a
thoughtful guy saw the boy and wanted to support
him. He put some money in the hat and gently
modified the language on the boys sign.
The boy, who could hear the mans footsteps,
inquired about what was written on the new sign.
The man answered that he had modified it to read,
Its a beautiful day, and I cant see it. The
young person caught her attention and quickly
realized that other people were dropping off
money. The new sign had increased peoples
awareness of their good fortune as well as the
boys position. It defined the difference between
those who could see and those who were unable to.
This simple change of perspective created
additional monetary contributions, which
benefited the boy a lot.

Moral of The Story Thinking beyond the box
requires looking at challenges from a new angle.
Changing the way we show things may frequently
lead to creative solutions to problems. It shows
how creativity and unique thinking can lead to
greater solutions, even in difficult situations.
Follow our blog for more content on Thinking
Outside the Box! Students can also check out the
video below for a more in-depth look at these
important life skills for school students, as
well as interesting stories to help explain these
concepts.
21
In our everyday lives, we frequently face choices
related to money. Some of these decisions are
motivated by need, while others are affected by
desire. Understanding the differentiation between
the two is necessary for helpful money management
and financial stability.
22
Needs are things we cannot live without. They
include basics such as food, housing, and basic
healthcare. These are essential for survival and
maintaining a reasonable level of living. Wants,
on the other hand, are things that improve our
quality of life but are not required for living.
They include things like costly goods,
entertainment, and eating out. While they might
provide enjoyment and comfort, they are not
essential to our well-being. Learning to
differentiate between necessities and desires
allows us to make better financial decisions,
focus our spending, and save money for key goals.
This talent allows us to handle our resources
properly and attain economic security.
Now, lets understand simply into this concept
using a table that shows the difference between
basic needs and wants.
23
Needs Wants
The basic requirements for everyday life Non-essential goods that increase comfort or happiness
School uniform, shoes, lunchbox, water bottle. Designer outfits, gadgets for tech (the tablet, iPod) and film services.
Important for fundamental functioning and well-being. Additional pleasures or expensive goods.
School Requirements for to succeed in school and Health and Social Services Improvements or technological improvements that are not important
Set goals to ensure basic needs are handled. Can be considered after fulfilling all requirements.
Funding must originally include these components. Should be considered if there is a remaining budget.
Important for daily living and effectiveness. Secondary and optional for more enjoyment.
