About Well Point Dewatering System

activities possible in areas with high water

of well points (small wells) connected to a
central vacuum or pump system.

Components of a Well Point System
Well Points
Small-diameter wells, typically 2 to 4 inches in
diameter, fitted with a filter at the bottom to
prevent soil from being drawn into the system.
Pump
Creates a vacuum to draw water from the well
points and discharge it away from the excavation
site.

How it Works

• Installation of Well Points
• Well points are installed in a grid or circular
  pattern around the excavation site. They are
  driven or drilled into the ground to a depth
  where they can effectively access and lower the
  groundwater table.

• Connection to Header Pipes
• The well points are connected to a central header
  pipe system, which collects the water from all
  the well points and channels it to the pump.

• Pumping
• The pump creates a vacuum, drawing water through
  the well points and header pipes. This action
  lowers the water table around the excavation
  site, allowing work to proceed without
  interference from groundwater.
